He has significant experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications before the European and UK patent offices, as well as internationally. In addition, he has been involved with Opposition and Appeal proceedings at the EPO and has conducted Infringement Analysis and Freedom-to-Operate evaluations.

Having worked with a diverse range of companies, from start-ups to multi-national corporations, Joe is well practiced at tailoring his advice to meet his client’s business objectives. His commercial understanding has been furthered by his time in-house at a fast-growing high-tech company at the forefront of holographic head-up display technology.

Joe has expertise in a broad range of technical fields. This includes holographic head-up display systems (both the optical arrangement of such systems and hologram compute methods), reduced risk smoking products, medical devices, x-ray inspection technology, MEMS device technology, gene sequencing systems, powder coating systems, cell assay systems and bioinformatics.

Alongside his European Patent Attorney qualification, Joe is also entitled to act as a representative before the European Unified Patent Court. He can therefore aid clients in relation to infringement and invalidity proceedings for European patents falling under the jurisdiction of the UPC.
