André is a patent attorney with a background as a pharmacist and holds a major in pharmaceutical chemistry. He has extensive experience in mapping needs and opportunities to protect intellectual property (IP), especially in life science, pharmaceutical and pharmaceutical formulations. André assists the clients with patent-based counseling and prepares and monitors patent applications at home and abroad.
André has experience in various technical fields in chemistry, life science, pharmacy and biotech, including galenic pharmacy, formulation techniques, tablet formulations, formulations for inhalation, formulations for dermal application, physiology, medical use of pharmaceuticals, medical devices (syringes, infusion equipment, inhalers mm), medical technology and biochemistry.
André has professional experience with quality testing, chemical control and analysis of raw materials for use in the production of pharmaceuticals. He was projecting the opening of Apotek1 emergency center and working in the pharmacy as a provisory pharmacist. Also with experience from the Norwegian Patent Office (NIPO) for 9 years, where the last three years was as a senior engineer. In NIPO, his main tasks were to conduct searches and investigations, in addition to processing patent applications mainly within drug formulations.
André has in-depth knowledge into drug formulations and drug delivery challenges, including drugs that affect the central nervous system, lungs and cardiovascular system. He likes to work with pharmacokinetics, drug absorption, distribution and elimination, pharmacodynamics (drug’s mechanism of action), pharmacognosy and pharmacotherapy.
André looks at IP as an opportunity for companies to think completely about their business strategy, and be aware of their intellectual property, and to ensure that the IP strategy is well balanced in terms of innovation and operation and provide a good cost / benefit ratio.
André’s clients are primary Norwegian and international pharmaceutical companies as well as research communities/ institutes.
André’s specialties are: pharmacy and biotech, pharmaceutical industry, life science and chemical industry.
André work with mapping and analyzing of patents of competitors and assessing the validity and extent of these, he can also attack the patents with protests and objections. André also considers risk of intervention and provides advice on patent enforcement. In addition, he can represent clients at oral proceedings in EPO, NIPO and KFIR.
