Bjørn S. Andersen is a European Patent Attorney specialising in intellectual property for i.a. electronics, computing, technology and control engineering sectors. He has a particular interest in patent rights for software and e-commerce businesses. His IP consulting work is highly valued by clients seeking to protect their inventions by patents or assess competitor patent rights. He was formerly an Examiner at The Norwegian Industrial Property Office (NIPO).

Key Experience


Bjorn’s experience includes assessment of new ideas, identification of possible patentable inventions, preparing and prosecuting patent applications, preparing and prosecuting oppositions and appeals, preparing validity opinions and preparing evaluations of infringement.
He has worked with a wide range of Norwegian and overseas companies, in sectors that include: communications, computer technology, measurement/control, oil & gas exploration and production, renewable energy, electrical engineering, and medical technology.
Identifying possibilities for nullifying or opposing patents, and preparing thorough and effective oppositions, are among Bjørn’s favourite expertise areas. He has successfully conducted many opposition cases, and has represented clients before the European Patent Office, PCT authorities and NIPO (Norwegian Patent Office).
